Peter Girling FCIM MARLA - Chairman and Chief Executive
Peter established Girlings Retirement Rentals in 1990 with his wife Gillian. Prior to this he had worked in retirement housing as a Housing Manager with Help the Aged and then as Director of Care Services with McCarthy & Stone and also as a Director of Peverel. He left the army in 1971 and then managed hotels in Cornwall and Sussex. Peter is responsible for overseeing the Girlings Group of Companies and future development. He is a Founder Trustee and Vice-Chairman of SAFE, a charity working with the Police to assist elderly victims of violence and also a Director & Trustee of the Haig Housing Trust .

Gillian Girling Bsc (Hons) FARLA MIRPM - Lettings & Marketing Director
Gillian established the foundations of the company with Peter in 1990 and is responsible for the acquisition and disposal of properties for investors, overseeing the administration of all tenancies and the marketing. She has achieved ARLA Legal Competency at Level One and Two, and is a Member of the Institute of Residential Property Management. Prior to setting up Girlings Gillian worked in the National Health Service for 10 years after graduating from the University of London in Nutrition & Dietetics.

Simon Hamilton BA FCCA FARLA - Finance Director and Company Secretary
Simon joined Girlings in 1998 and became Finance Director in 1999. Previously he worked in the City of London after training as an accountant with Coopers & Lybrand. As well as being responsible for finance, tax and accounting for Girlings and its clients, Simon is also Company Secretary. He has achieved ARLA Legal Competency at Level One and Level Two.

David Barton BSc, QCVS FCMI - Property Management and HR Director
David joined Girlings as a Director in 2005. He is responsible for the repairs and maintenance section and also directs all human resource matters and the Company’s training plan. He has been very involved in improving the energy efficiency of Girlings managed properties and has achieved ARLA Legal Competency at Level One. Prior to joining Girlings, David had a 31 year career with the Royal Air Force and his last posting was the Commanding Officer (Group Captain) at Northwood. David held a number of senior appointments in the personnel field. He was also the equerry to HRH the Princess of Wales from 1990 to 1992.

John Holliwell FCIB MCSI - Non-Executive Director
A director of Girlings since 2003, John is a Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers who has held senior positions in the City of London and has extensive experience in finance and property.
